La Leche League Series Meetings are open to all interested women (pregnant, nursing and otherwise). Mothers bring their questions and concerns about breastfeeding.  There is also a planned topic of discussion (see below) that covers the practical, physical, and psychological aspects of breastfeeding.  No two meetings are quite the same. Series meetings tend to focus on nursing during the first year. Moms nursing children of any age are always welcome and encouraged to come share triumphs and trials, enjoy mother-to-mother support, gather information and form relationships with other nursing moms. LLL groups have informal discussions.Children are welcome.

Our groups discuss the following topics:

  1. Breastfeeding: The Healthy Choice -Nursing benefits for baby, mother, father, families and the world
  2. Baby Arrives– Preparing for birth, establishing nursing in the early weeks, & including dad, sibling/s, & grandparents
  3. Art of Breastfeeding & Avoiding Difficulties – The normal course of breastfeeding, recognizing challenges, caring for yourself, getting support
  4. Nutrition & Weaning– Starting solids, family nutrition, extended nursing, approaches to weaning, loving guidance

Meeting 1 – January, May, September

Meeting 2 – February, June, October

Meeting 3 – March, July, November

Meeting 4 – April, August, December

  1. The september meeting will be at Tanya’s house on September 13th. Please e-mail me at if you need directions.

  2. I would love to go to the meeting on 12/3. In really need some support!!! Hope it’s still on. Can’t wait!!

    • The meeting should be on. When you are at the Starbucks look for a woman with a folded piece of paper to make a table sign or maybe a nametag. Sometimes you may be the first to show up and it doesn’t “look” like a meeting. Usually a couple other moms will show up too. You can also LIKE our facebook page Suncoast La Leche League where we post reminders.

  3. I’m interested in attending your meeting in Sarasota on the 7th at Starbucks. do I need to sign up in advance or anything? Thanks!

    • No, indeed, no sign up necessary. Just look for the Leaders sitting at a table probably with a cardboard tent sign that says La Leche League or possibly with some type of a nametag. Sometimes you may be the first mom to show up and it doesn’t “look” like a meeting. You will be able to get all your questions answered. See you there!

  4. I am definitely interested in joining this group! I am also trying to find a group of mommies and mommies-to-be with like-minded views on natural living. Have any of the LLL mothers chosen not to vaccinate? I am 11 weeks pregnant and do not want to vaccinate my baby. I don’t want to be involved in any debates about vaccinations. I’m just looking for other like-minded mommies for support, and I’m wondering if this group could help. Thanks a bunch!

  5. Hello,
I have some questions about breastfeeding and I cannot make the meetings. I would love to talk to someone who has nursed while pregnant.

    • Have you checked the great information on

If you go to our Find breastfeeding support page and look for Heather or Tanya you could try phoning either one. Our Leaders are stretched a little thin right now with family responsibility so please check this great website first but then feel free to call one of them.

  6. I believe in & used LeLeche 30 yrs ago!! Now, mother to my 5 month old grandson is nursing him (wonderful) but having problems building supply. Working now & having great difficulty & distress!!She needs a healthy mentor!!! Help please! Thanx!

    • Please have her call one of our Leaders whose phone numbers and emails are listed on this website under finding support.
